Compressed Classics is a reaction to the increasing pace of visual media and the information society. The need to compress all forms of visual communication down to a certain length and form is dictated by studios, media houses and app developers. The films in this work originally offer atmospheric, long and reflective scenes, the chance to fall in love or be deeply disturbed, the ability to lose oneself and the sense of time and place. A selection of 9 European films scaled down for a contemporary audience with increasingly less patience. In this version, each of the films relates to Instagram and its 59 second video limit.
