Blok P 101 - 528 | 500 x 65 cm | 2013
Blok P 101 - 528, was my contribution to the retrospective Blok P exhibition curated by Rikke Diemer at Katuaq in Nuuk, Greenland, 2013. It was also exhibited at Nordatlantens Brygge in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Blok P was a residential complex build in the late sixties by the Danish government as part of their centralizing politics to move Innuits from their villages. The building was demolished in the 2000s as part of a decolonizing act.
The image consists of photos taken of all living rooms accessible just days after the tenants were relocated and the building was set to be demolished. The grey spots indicate the apartments that were closed off. The finished image contains four plexiglass modules combined.
The image is to be part of a larger book project in collaboration with author and researcher, Tone Huse.
